Volunteering for Us
Volunteers are absolutely essential to the work of Freshwinds. Without them, we would not be able to offer our clients the high levels of care and support that we achieve. With over 8,500 clients, the support of our dedicated team of volunteers is vital.
Traditionally we have been a volunteer based charity with the number of volunteers at Freshwinds surpassing our staff. Our volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds and care about, and wish to make a difference to people who face severe illness, isolation and difficulty in Birmingham and its surrounding areas.
I like Freshwinds because the people are nice and I have made lots of friends. They have become like family. I have also learnt lots of new things.
~ Oscar Mamani
The diverse nature of the support that we provide means that our volunteers offer their support in a number of roles ranging from volunteer receptionists to voluntary complementary therapists.
We care greatly about developing our volunteers, their skills and experience with a number of our staff members starting their journey with Freshwinds as a volunteer.
